As a marketing education teacher, you will:
- teach marketing courses in topics such as marketing, sports and entertainment, fashion, travel and tourism
- maintain a cooperative education program
- advise students in DECA, An Association of Marketing Students
Although your local school structure will, to a degree, dictate the actual design of this role, you may also be expected to provide career guidance and to maintain an active public relations program.
In this program, you will earn a bachelor of science in occupational and technical studies with an emphasis in marketing education. Your courses will cover business and marketing topics as well as teaching methods and classroom instruction, and you'll complete the program with a student teaching experience.
This program is approved by the Virginia Department of Education and meets licensure requirements to teach marketing education in Virginia, which currently has reciprocity with 49 states. It also conforms to the standards of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
