Yes. Old Dominion University is a public, doctoral R1 research university based in Norfolk, Virginia. ODUGlobal is the name of our online delivery of the university's top-tier academics, taught by expert faculty engaged in cutting-edge research. Whether you take online classes or attend at main campus, you'll learn earn the same degree.
It's different for everyone, but we'll help you find out with a free unofficial transfer evaluation before you apply. We'll look at any previous college credits you've earned, plus military training/JST. Our enrollment team will work with you to make sure you can transfer as many credits as possible. We also have transfer-friendly college partnerships to help you plan your studies.
Beginning in Fall 2026, ODUGlobal will have six opportunities to start classes. Two in the fall, two in the spring, and two in the summer. Each term is eight weeks.
You also need to be admitted to ODU in order to register for classes. For some graduate certificates, you can apply as a non-degree seeking student. If you are pursuing a full graduate degree, you may be able to apply as a non-degree student and take up to three courses while you apply to the specific ODU graduate program you want.
Beginning Fall 2026, all undergraduate and master’s courses through ODUGlobal will be asynchronous. There are no set meeting times so you can decide what works best for you.
Out-of-state tuition for online courses is only a few dollars more than in-state tuition.
