Tools for Your Success

You'll have access to the same tools as ODU's on campus students, no matter where in the world you are.

In addition to rigorous classes we offer a university of support, from academic to technical, from before you apply to after you graduate.

  • Testing, research, reading, and writing help! Your academic advisor is your number one resource, but we make it easy to connect with study groups, find tutors, get help with writing, conduct research with resources from our library (delivered to your door!) and so much more.

  • The College Level Examination Program® (CLEP) is a great option to gain college credits for what you already know. The cost of a CLEP exam is much less than a full college course, so you'll save money as well. ODU accepts multiple CLEP scores.

CLEP exams are available at no cost for most active duty, reserve, or National Guard service members. ODU also offers credit for DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) scores.

  • All ODU students have access to online tools and software such as:

    • Microsoft Office 365: Download or access online apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more.
    • Zoom: Create your own web conference meetings for group work or study sessions.
    • Microsoft OneDrive: Cloud storage to create, edit, store and share files, up to 5TB total.
    • G Workspace for Education: Free use of Google's Workspace for Education apps, such as Google Drive.
  • Technology has a tendency to surprise us all, but never fear. We offer 24/7/365 technical support.

  • We know the military community very well after decades of partnerships. ODU's Military Connection Center is the central place to find guidance on tuition assistance, finance processes, and other resources for military service members, veterans, and their dependents.

ODU also has programs in place to provide academic, professional, and transitional support to military-affiliated students.

  • Have accessibility questions, or need to talk about a challenge? Your academic advisor and coach can help connect you to services at the Student Success Center.

  • ODU's Office of Counseling Services provides comprehensive mental health services for enrolled students. They offer consultations, individual and group counseling, psychiatric services, crisis intervention, and variety of outreaches and workshops.

  • When it's time to decide on career moves, ODU's Career Development Services is a great resource for interview practice, resume writing tips, and job searches.

After you graduate, you will have lifetime access to Career Development Services for ODU alumni.
