Our MPH program is intentionally interprofessional, connecting you to a network of fellow students, international and community organizations, and diverse health professionals.

Through a combination of didactic and experience-based courses, you’ll develop skills in applied public health research, data management, community health improvement, and environmental interventions locally and around the world.

In the health behavior and promotion specialty, you will focus on the prevention of disease and injury and the promotion healthy behavior through education, communication, research, and publication.

Interested specifically in global health? You have the option to add our graduate certificate in Global Health to your MPH degree.

Required Courses

  • 43 credit hours, including a practicum

Courses are offered in fall, spring, and summer for full- and part-time study. The practicum can be completed in a community organization local to the student.

Online Learning Environment

Participate in live, regularly scheduled online class meetings and access course materials online from any location. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.

To apply, you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Unofficial transcripts from all degree-granting programs listing the dates of completion or attendance.

Applicants with a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale are preferred. No GMAT or GRE required.
