The Criminal Justice degree program will help you appreciate the complexity of criminal justice and understand the social, legal, and technological aspects of criminal justice agencies.

You'll learn from a diverse group of ODU faculty members specializing in criminology and criminal justice who write and lecture on a multitude of exciting topics. In our online Criminal Justice degree program, you'll take a variety of courses on the administration of criminal justice, plus courses on the social and psychological causes of criminal behavior.

* Note: Only the Bachelor of Science is available as a full program online. However, both the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science are available as degree-completion programs, which assume you have prior college credits.

Get Guaranteed Admission at Old Dominion University

We've partnered with the Virginia Community College System and select educational institutions to make transferring easy. The Guaranteed Admission Agreement is intended to ease the transfer process between the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and Old Dominion University (ODU).

Required Courses

To earn this degree from ODU, you must complete at least 30 credit hours with us. This bachelor’s degree requires 120 total credit hours.

Talk with our enrollment team to determine how your credits will transfer. The curriculum sheet can serve as a guide for planning your course of study.

Online Learning Environment

Access course materials online from any location. Many classes don't have a scheduled meeting time, so you can fit class into your personal schedule. The instructor may schedule assignments and exams at specific times. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.

How to Apply

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice is available entirely online. If you’ve never taken college classes before, you'll apply to ODU as a freshman. 

Both the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science are available as degree-completion programs, which means you would transfer to ODU with prior college credits for the lower division courses.
