Why ODU for digital forensics?

Prepare for a career as a digital forensic analyst in as little as one year, and explore how criminal justice and digital forensics intersect in our undergraduate certificate.

In these courses, you will gain experience practicing the forensics process as outlined by the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST). You will also develop knowledge of the technological, legal and social context surrounding digital forensics.

Your courses will cover:

  • Common types of computer-based crimes
  • The legal basis for search and seizure of digital artifacts
  • How to find, handle and and analyze digital evidence from computers, cell phones and other sources
  • Techniques for interviewing individuals in connection with cybercrime
  • Presenting your findings to an audience, including testifying as a witness in civil and criminal court cases
