Use this checklist to prepare for online study with ODUGlobal, request the approvals you need and keep your benefits and registration on track.
Start with your approvals
- Check your email spam or junk folders for Old Dominion University messages. Add Old Dominion University and ODUGlobal to your safe sender list.
- Request command approval to apply, enroll and register for classes at Old Dominion University.
- Request command approval to use tuition assistance.
- Review tuition assistance guidance for your service branch: Air/Space Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps or Navy.
Choose your program and apply
- Request program information or connect with your enrollment counselor.
- Review the Military Pathway for your program of interest.
- Apply for admission.
- Request official transcripts, review how to obtain transcripts and why they are needed, and order your Joint Service Transcript.
- Check your application status: undergraduate or graduate.
- Confirm admission after you are accepted.
Plan your funding and registration
- Apply for the active-duty tuition rate.
- Apply for federal student aid if you choose to use it.
- Register for classes with your enrollment counselor.
- Submit tuition assistance vouchers to thirdpartybilling@odu.edu.
- If you use Tuition Assistance Top-Up, submit your Veterans Clearance Form. On the page, scroll to the Certification Process heading.
Stay supported
- Find and meet with your student success advisor. This step is optional but recommended.
- Upload your official degree plan from your student success advisor into your service branch’s education portal.
- Contact militaryonline@odu.edu for information and guidance at any time.
