You will learn from committed educators with experience in field research and diverse ecological communities. To aid in their research and course development, our faculty have access to:

  • the Kaplan Orchid Conservatory
  • state-of-the-art DNA facilities, including cutting edge technologies that support research in microbiology, cancer biology and immunology
  • nearby state and federal preserves, including the Great Dismal Swamp Wildlife Refuge, Virginia Barrier Islands, Chesapeake Bay, and Back Bay
  • the ODU-owned Blackwater Ecologic Preserve, a 320-acre area in the Zuni Pine Barrens State Natural Area

You will take one 200-level core biology course and a minimum of three upper level biology courses. To take courses in this minor, you must have a C or better in General Biology I Lecture and Lab (BIOL 121N & BIOL 122N) and General Biology II Lecture and Lab (BIOL 123N & BIOL 124N).

A minor can only be earned as part of a bachelor's degree. Talk with an ODUGlobal enrollment counselor to determine if you have credits that will transfer.
