Why ODU for Manufacturing Engineering Technology?

Prepare for a career in today’s advanced manufacturing industry with ODU’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology with a major in manufacturing engineering technology. Our program emphasizes application-focused learning in manufacturing systems, automation, robotics, mechatronics, quality systems, and smart manufacturing.

You’ll develop practical skills in manufacturing processes, industrial automation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), metrology, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). A senior capstone project allows you to apply what you’ve learned to real manufacturing challenges.

ODU’s Smart Manufacturing Laboratory enhances learning through demonstrations using industrial robots, automation systems, mechatronics trainers, PLCs, precision metrology equipment, and manufacturing workstations.

The curriculum is guided by the department’s Industrial Advisory Board and is designed to prepare students with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed in today’s advanced manufacturing industry.
