Why ODU for kinesiology?

Kinesiology is one of the fastest-growing majors, and higher education needs application-focused faculty who can teach at all degree levels. New opportunities are also opening for practitioners with a doctoral degree in kinesiology who have been trained to make scientific, evidence-based recommendations and are able to communicate that information to their clients, patients, and other stakeholders.

This unique applied science doctoral degree is designed for practitioners with a kinesiology-related master's degree or a clinical doctorate (e.g., DPT). Completion of this degree will prepare you to teach at all degree levels and for leadership opportunities, potentially qualifying for jobs that require a doctoral degree.

Courses are on an accelerated schedule, so the program can be completed in as little as 2.5 years.

Coursework concentrates on strategic communication, pedagogical practices, and managing organizational change. Instead of a dissertation, you will complete a capstone project experience aligned with your interests.
