ODU Coronavirus Response for Fall 2020:  More Information >>

Why ODU for Special Education?

Today's education system needs well-trained and well-qualified special education teachers.

In this program, you will learn from faculty who have direct and current school-based special education experience, and be supported with career mentoring from former school professionals.

Your courses will prepare you to teach special education general curriculum, addressing elementary education through high school, grades K-12. You will also complete extensive field work and a teacher candidate internship, which will provide opportunities to apply your knowledge of teaching under supervision in the school setting.

When you graduate, you be eligible for Virginia teacher licensure.

This program is only for students in Virginia and Washington State.
