Required Courses

* Students outside Virginia will be given alternative assignments for the institute and conference requirements.

Online Learning Environment

Access course materials online from any location. Many classes don't have a scheduled meeting time, so you can fit class into your personal schedule. The instructor may schedule assignments and exams at specific times. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.

Although this is an online program, you're expected to attend a conference during your first year as well as an annual summer institute. Students in Virginia will attend an annual three-day summer institute in Norfolk, Virginia. First year conference can be either the fall Virginia Association of School Librarians conference or one of the spring regionals. Students outside Virginia will be given alternative assignments to fulfill these attendance requirements.
