Perusall
Perusall is a social learning platform that aims to improve learning outcomes by promoting student engagement and collaboration with all types of course content, such as:
- Documents: PDF, image, MS Word document, MS PowerPoint, Google Doc, Google Slides
- A page in Canvas (this is currently in beta testing January 2024)
- A webpage: Perusall will take a snapshot of the webpage to deploy within the program
- Note: If the webpage has a robot test or cookie banner, this will sometimes cause the webpage to load improperly in Perusall, and you will need to upload the document in a different format.
- Video: YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive, or direct link to a video file
- Note: Videos must have closed captions to meet accessibility requirements.
- Podcast
- Perusall Library: Students purchase a text through Perusall
- Note: The bookstore does not sell codes, and this may cause issues with some students depending on their financial aid.
Notes
- Documents and content added to Perusall must be built with accessibility in mind (e.g., PDF scans that are images are not accessible and cannot be used, videos require closed captions, etc.)
- Persuall assignments and grading are not perfect.
- Do NOT rely on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) alone to grade your assignments; AI grading requires your review due to inaccuracy.
- Although you can grade and add comments directly in Perusall, adding them manually to the Canvas gradebook is suggested to ensure accuracy in grading and availability of comments. Comments from Perusall do not always transfer to Canvas.
