Our Green Belt Program

Earning your Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification with ODU and USF boosts your career and personal growth. This certification provides one of today's most in-demand process improvement skills, defining you as a continuous improvement expert and opening up better job opportunities with higher earning potential.

In just 10 sessions over two to three months, you'll complete all certification requirements, including training hours, project assessment, and exams. Successful completion awards you a certificate from USF and ODU. To certify, students must complete a project, present a final storyboard, meet attendance requirements, and pass tests.

  • Overview

    This program focuses on managing quality projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Lean topics cover waste elimination and cycle time reduction, while Six Sigma principles include problem-solving, data analysis, process control, and continuous improvement. Students apply learned techniques to solve a real-world problem, meeting specific project goals.

    Students register and pay tuition with ODU. USF will provide login credentials to each student to access the class.

Dr. Ian Briggs is a business leader and educator with over 20 years of experience in leadership, operations, project management, sales, marketing, and human resources. He has global expertise managing cross-functional teams across industries like electronic manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, IT, sports, non-profit, and healthcare. Dr. Briggs has held leadership roles at Merck and Microsoft, directing successful global projects. He also ran his own business for 10 years, coaching world-class athletes.

More recently, he has focused on educating companies on leadership, people management, and enhancing productivity through effective human resource management. Dr. Briggs holds a business degree, an MBA in international business and HR management, and a PhD in Management with a focus on leadership and organizational change, blending academic knowledge with practical experience to prepare adult learners for success.
