This minor best complements majors in education, psychology, and speech pathology. It is helpful if you wish to become an elementary or primary school special education teacher.

    • 15 credit hours

    This minor consists of five courses, including a 45-hour practicum and passing scores on Praxis I or equivalent as prescribed by the Virginia Board of Education.

    A minor can only be earned as part of an undergraduate program. Talk with an ODUGlobal enrollment coordinator to determine if you have credits that will transfer.

  • Participate in live, regularly scheduled online class meetings and access course materials online from any location. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.

  • To declare special education as your intended minor, you must complete the declaration process with the program director. Application for graduation requires completion of the Undergraduate Departmental Certification/Minor form with the Graduate Program Director.
