Why ODU for Teacher Education?

If you've completed a non-teaching bachelor's degree and want to be a teacher, this program is for you. You can qualify for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in PreK-6 through ODU's Master of Science in Education.

In order to be recommended by ODU on the College Verification form for the Virginia teaching license, you must complete this program in its entirety at ODU.

This program is designed to lead to Virginia teacher licensure. This program is also authorized for field placements in Washington state. If you want to be licensed in a different state, we encourage you to check your state's teacher licensure requirements before applying.

When you graduate, you will earn a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Elementary Education.
