At ODUGlobal, we recognize that professionals often rely on employer-sponsored tuition assistance to grow their careers. That’s why we’ve introduced a tuition deferment option tailored to support working learners—those who are ready to invest in their future but need time for their reimbursement to process.

Through our Workforce Innovation initiative, we empower advancement-focused professionals with flexible financial pathways to education. The tuition deferment option ensures you can focus on learning today while delaying tuition payment and closing the time period between the tuition deadline and receiving your employer provided tuition assistance.

Who’s Eligible?

You may qualify for tuition deferment if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • You are an employee of an organization or company formally partnered with ODUGlobal
  • You are enrolled or admitted in a degree or certificate program at Old Dominion University—online or on campus
  • You have verified employer-sponsored tuition assistance
  • You are in good financial standing with the University
  • You commit to paying any portion of tuition not covered by your employer

How It Works

This specialized payment plan defers your tuition deadline up to 8 weeks past the University’s standard deadline. For additional payment plans, visit our Office of Finance.

Steps to Enroll in Tuition Deferment

Payment Plans must be set up online.

Enroll through LEO Online

  1. Log in to LEO Online
  2. Select "Make a payment on account, sign up for e-Refunds and/or sign up for a Payment Plan"
  3. You will be redirected to TouchNet, a secured payment site
  4. Once in your TouchNet account, select Payment Plan from the choices across the top of the screen and follow the prompts to establish the payment plan

Submit your application at least one week before classes begin. Late applications may not be accepted, and students will need to follow standard payment procedures.

The Office of Finance will review your request within 2 business days.

If approved, you’ll receive a Deferment Confirmation and access to a customized payment plan.

Important Considerations

  • Employees are responsible for any portion of tuition not covered by their employer—even if reimbursement is delayed or denied.
  • Payment must be made by the extended deadline to avoid late fees, registration holds, or referral to collections.
