Students apply to enroll at both their community college and ODU's online nursing program, and take classes from both schools at the same time. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Old Dominion University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

A Flexible Program for Busy Nurses
RN to BSN online students may start in the fall, spring and summer semesters. You can complete the RN to BSN online nursing program on a full-time or part-time basis. While a two-year, part-time completion of nursing courses is typical, you may proceed at a slower pace, if desired. This allows you to work towards your degree while meeting the demands of work and family responsibilities.

Get Guaranteed Admission to ODU
We've partnered with the Virginia Community College System and select educational institutions to make transferring easy. The Guaranteed Admission Agreement is intended to ease the transfer process from these institutions to the RN to BSN online at Old Dominion University.

Required Courses
To earn a bachelor's degree from ODU, you must complete at least 30 credit hours with us. This bachelor’s program requires 120 total credit hours.

Online Learning Environment
Access course materials online from any location. Many classes don't have a scheduled meeting time, so you can fit class into your personal schedule. The instructor may schedule assignments and exams at specific times. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.

How to Apply
Finish your degree with us. We offer the upper division (300 and 400 level) courses you'll need. Our enrollment team will review your credits from other higher education institutions. Then you can apply toward a degree from ODU.
Interested in the Concurrent Enrollment Program? You may be able to pursue an Associate of Applied Science from your local college and this online Bachelor of Science in Nursing from ODU at the same time. Learn more about this option here.
For regular admission to this online degree completion program, you must currently hold licensure as a Registered Nurse and be accepted as a degree-seeking student.
