This Master of Engineering Management program is available by portable media to specific members of the military and students with qualifying bachelor's degrees and work experience.

Master of Engineering Management (MEM) courses are available on portable media to Navy Nuclear Power School (Officer) and Prototype (NPS-O/Prototype) graduates as well as those from the Bettis Reactor Engineering School (BRES). If you meet these requirements, you may earn 12 credit hours of experiential credit toward your MEM degree.

Your program will culminate in a one-credit capstone course.

Due to the portable media format of this program, course registration and the process of ordering of course materials differ from standard ODU graduate programs.

You will work independently to complete coursework provided on CD-ROM or similar media. You should have administrator access to the computer you plan to use for coursework, in case you need to install a free video player to view course materials.

To take exams, you will designate a proctor who will receive the exam materials and administer the exam in person as instructed by our faculty.

This program is not intended to lead to a specific state-level license.

If you plan to pursue a professional license or credential, we encourage you to explore requirements through the appropriate credentialing agency or professional organization in your state.

MEM by Portable Media Tuition
$642 per credit hour

Rates are effective Fall 2024 and subject to change.

Estimated cost of course materials/books is $340 per course.

  • Tuition is the individual's responsibility and is due upon registration.
  • Eligible Ashore students ashore may use Tuition Assistance or in-service Veterans benefits to defray tuition costs.
  • For both MEM Ashore and NCPACE students, Tuition Assistance is capped at $250 per credit hour.

Ready to Apply?

Military service members are encouraged to review the MEM by Portable Media Admission page for more details and requirements. Because portable media courses have multiple start dates, the application and registration processes are different than the standard semester processes.

If you are not an NPS-O/Prototype or BRES graduate, you still may be considered for this program. Decisions are made on an individual basis. To be considered, you must be pre-approved by the program director. Please contact mempm@odu.edu to determine your eligibility.
