In this online program, you will take courses in both electrical engineering technology and computer science. This combination provides crucial insights into how hardware and software components work together in a variety of computer systems. Your courses will cover:
- programming

- system design, testing and troubleshooting
- advanced circuit analysis
- digital and linear electronics
You'll also learn fundamentals of ethical behavior and leadership in the engineering field. Graduates are eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in Virginia and many other states. This exam is the first step to licensure as a professional engineer.
When you graduate, you will earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology with a major in Electrical Engineering Technology.

Computer Engineering Technology: Best of Both Worlds
ODU's engineering technology bachelor’s program teaches you career skills in designing, building, and installing computer systems. Your core classes will be in computer-oriented hardware like electronics, digital systems, and microprocessors. Those classes combine with a series of courses offered by the Department of Computer Science, including programming and problem solving, data structures, and software engineering. As a result, you will also receive a minor in computer science. Our graduates find employment as network managers, computer system engineers, and network designers.

Required Courses
To earn a bachelor's degree from ODU, you must complete at least 30 credit hours with us. This Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology program requires 128 total credit hours minimum and includes a minor in computer science.

State Licensure
This program is designed to prepare you for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, the first step to licensure as a professional engineer in several states. In general, licensure is not required to work in this field, but some employers may require it.
