Why ODU for Special Education?

This program prepares teachers and agency personnel to design and implement curricula for individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings.

In this program, you can choose an endorsement in special education: general curriculum K-12 (mild disabilities); early childhood special education; and/or special education: adapted curriculum K-12 (severe disabilities).

Interested in the adapted curriculum endorsement? Currently, ODU has a federally funded tuition grant to train special educators to work with students with low incidence disabilities. Qualified candidates will receive 100% tuition assistance and will agree to provide special education services for students with low incidence disabilities after graduation. Learn more about the Professional Educator Preparation in Special Education for Children with Low Incidence (PEPSE/CHILI) grant and download an application at the Darden College of Education web site.

This program is only for students in Virginia and Washington State.
