Tips for All Online Appointments

ODUGlobal staff use Zoom for online appointments. Coach meetings are held on the phone.

For any type of appointment, please follow these tips:

  • Please bring any questions you have! We want to make sure you get the most out of your appointment.
  • Let us know if you’re going to be late or if you’re not able to attend the appointment. We can always reschedule if needed.
  • Indoor appointments are best. If you are outdoors or in your car, it may be extremely noisy, and the internet connection may not be as strong.
  • Avoid multitasking during your appointment (baking, cleaning, shopping at the mall, running errands, workplace tasks, etc.). If you’re busy, let’s reschedule for a better time.
    • Never drive during a meeting. If you are driving, we will cancel your appointment immediately and you will need to reschedule.

General Tips for Appointments via Zoom

If you've never used Zoom before, you can either download Zoom or join the Zoom meeting through a web browser. This video tutorial on YouTube shows how to join a meeting.

Please check in advance that you can access a Zoom meeting and that your sound/microphone work by connecting to ODUGlobal's Zoom Conference Test. Use the test link to check your settings at any time, night or day.

You'll receive a link for your appointment via email or text message. At the scheduled appointment time, just click the link to join the meeting.

  • We recommend joining from a desktop or laptop computer so we can use the screen share option. 
    • Please avoid using a Chromebook, phone, or tablet if possible, as these devices are not compatible with screen sharing in Zoom.
  • When you join the meeting, you will be placed in a waiting room and our staff will be notified that you are present. You will be admitted into the meeting as soon as possible.
    • There may be a delay if a there was an appointment ahead of yours which is still wrapping up. The waiting room feature protects the privacy of each appointment.
  • Once you are admitted to the meeting, be sure to select, “Connect to Audio using the computer.”

Coach Meetings

This meeting will be held by phone with an ODUGlobal enrollment coach. At your scheduled appointment time, your coach will call you at the number you provided. Please be ready to meet in a quiet space and share more with us about your educational goals.

Pre-Admission Advising

This meeting will be held via Zoom with an ODUGlobal enrollment coordinator. They will send you the Zoom meeting link in a separate email/text message.

At your scheduled appointment time, please join the meeting from a computer/laptop where we can use the share screen option on Zoom to review your unofficial evaluation and determine your next steps for admission to ODU. Please avoid using a Chromebook/phone/tablet if possible as these are not compatible with the Zoom screen share feature.

  • Be sure to have your unofficial evaluation pulled up and ready to review.
  • Please bring any questions you have! We want to make sure you get the most out of your appointment.
  • Let us know if you’re going to be late or if you’re not able to attend the appointment. We can always reschedule if needed.

New Students

This meeting is held with an ODUGlobal student success director. They will send you the Zoom link in a separate email or text message.

At your scheduled appointment time, please join the meeting from a computer/laptop where we can use the share screen option on Zoom to review DegreeWorks/LEO Online together. Please avoid using a Chromebook/phone/tablet if possible as these are not compatible with the Zoom screen share feature.

  • Be sure to complete the ODUGlobal New Student Orientation in Canvas prior to our appointment, if you have not already done so.
  • Review your academic record in DegreeWorks, accessed through the myODU Portal, to view how your previous college coursework was initially evaluated by the University, and to familiarize yourself with the requirements for your major.

Current Students

Your ODUGlobal student success director will send you the Zoom meeting link in a separate email or text message.

  • Review DegreeWorks prior to our meeting to see what is still needed for your degree. Please attempt to update your degree plan before our meeting. This will ensure we are able to review and discuss it, as well as edit anything (if needed) during the appointment.
  • The Course Search tool will allow you to see what courses are available in upcoming semesters.

Help with Paperwork/Forms
