The Human Services program at the Darden College of Education was recently included in the 2018 Best and Most Affordable Online Colleges rankings by SR Education Group. Of the 25 ranked programs, Old Dominion University was ranked number nine on the list of best online colleges for a bachelor's in human services and number 16 on the list of most affordable online bachelor's in human services for its high academic standards and commitment to affordability.

ODU's bachelor of science in human services is offered online and in-person at main campus. The coursework prepares students for entry-level positions in a wide variety of community services settings. Students in the program learn the roles and functions of the human services professional, characteristics of human growth and development; characteristics of human services agencies; theories and skills of human services; and the basics skills related to program evaluation, grant writing, and fundraising.
