Online Program Planning

Academic Planning collaborates with online programs from their inception through their formal launch and beyond. We seek to ensure that online programs remain current, are fully available to students, and are accurately represented in the online space.

Our Academic Planning team supports departments and programs in this process by seamlessly connecting them with vital components of designing a successful online program.

  • From the initial phases of discovery and planning to program development to the formal program launch, program planning allows collaboration with departments and programs in support of the process. Our services include performing data analyses to support creating new programs or bolster existing ones, identifying online pathways through programs, creating course development plans, and connecting faculty with Instructional Design to develop high-quality courses.

  • We offer preliminary guidance on accreditation to programs as they plan to move forward with program development. Ultimately, we can facilitate a connection with the proper university resources to help you meet accreditation standards.

  • With students at the heart of our mission, the student experience is a focal point from the inception of the program. Staff from our admissions and student success teams will be invited into the process early on to ensure that these functions are prepared to meet needs unique to each program.

  • As an integral part of the online program planning process, we collaborate seamlessly with marketing efforts. Whether establishing a program page on the ODUGlobal website or liaising with programs to bolster their marketing and growth objectives, we work in tandem to elevate the visibility of online programs.

  • Academic Planning also facilitates the disbursement of stipends for faculty developers who successfully complete a course development project with Digital Learning.

  • Our online scheduling staff works in partnership with and under the guidance of the Registrar’s office to oversee course scheduling for all undergraduate and graduate online programs. This unit works closely with academic colleges to ensure course availability for the online learner.
