Meet the Speakers
Dr. Jay K. Walker
Jay is an Associate Professor of Economics and the Director of the M.A. Program in Economics at Old Dominion University. As an applied microeconomist and Fulbright Scholar, his work emphasizes how data and economic analysis can support decision-making in real-world policy and development contexts. He is committed to student success, working closely with M.A. candidates to prepare them for impactful careers in policy analysis, NGOs, international institutions, and data-driven roles.
Ms. Andrea Barcenas
Andrea is a current Master’s student in Economics at Old Dominion University and a Research Assistant at the Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy. A former collegiate tennis player at Texas A&M University–Texarkana, she now serves as the M.A. program's student ambassador. Fluent in English and Spanish, Andrea is passionate about continuous learning and applying her data analysis skills to understand dynamic global environments.
