Required Courses

  • 15 credit hours (five courses)

There are three core courses:

  • Principles of Occupational Safety and Health
  • Occupational Safety and Health Program Management
  • Occupational Safety Standards, Laws and Regulations

You will select two electives from:

  • Occupational Health
  • Physical Hazards and Their Control
  • Principles of Ergonomics
  • Industrial Hygiene
  • Industrial Hygiene Sampling Methods

Online Learning Environment

Access course materials online from any location. Some classes will have live, regular online meeting times, while others will not. The instructor may schedule assignments and exams at specific times. All courses follow ODU's regular academic calendar.

  • In-state Virginia Residents$551 per credit hour*
  • Out-of-state Students$595 per credit hour

Rates are effective Fall 2020 and subject to change.
* In-state rate assumes residency requirements are met.

State Licensure

Earning this academic certificate may enhance your candidate qualifications for Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification. The courses in this certificate program may also provide maintenance points for professionals who already hold these certifications.
